Shoreline Tracer Release History

  1. Fixed the "Shoreline Tracer Documents" error: If the session contained more than one shoreline file as in a group of islands, on startup, the program did not open the previously selected shoreline csv-file. When the shoreline file was selected, the "Fit to view" button remained disabled.
  2. Added the experimental "Find models..." command to the "Singles Model-Class" menu item of the "Models" menu. The program will open the "Find 'Model-Class Model' menu". Use this option to search for models suitable for tracing the shoreline of the current vertically oriented and centered shoreline image displayed in the main plot window. Reference the "Models" menu help.
  3. Added the "Check all shorelines" and "Open the log" commands to the "Shoreline" menu item of the "Shoreline csv-file image viewer" window. Reference: The "Review shoreline csv-files" command of the "Shorelines" menu.

"Warning:" The experimental "Composite Models" option is deprecated and will be removed from later releases.

  1. Fixed the shoreline tracing rate display in the "Classifier" window. In 1,4,0,0 the rate was changed to a running average but the results failed to display.
  2. Added the "Delete" command to the "Select Scan-line Profile" window.
  3. Added the popup context menu command "Delete the selected Model-Class" to the "Select Model-Class" window.
  4. Added the check box "Show progress" to the "Options" menu of the "Classifier" window. If checked and when starting to classify images, the program will open the progress plot.
  5. Added the check box "Download windowed shoreline tiles" to the "Options" menu of the "Classifier" window.
  6. Changed the "Options" menu "Download shoreline tiles" in the "Classifier" window. The program now opens the "Download Shoreline Tiles" window. The window provides the new controls: Delay (ms), Start, Pause, Resume, and Stop. If the shoreline path forms a closed land area then when paused during a shoreline review, you can manually trace and add shoreline related rocks and islets.
  7. To prevent a crash, set an overlooked minimum height to the "Select Scan-line Profile" window.

  1. Fixed a download and display deadlock that caused the program to hang and required a restart.
  2. Revised the tile downloader so there is less of a pause during shoreline tracing.
  3. When a new entry occurs, the program will remove the "Files not found.list" duplicate entries.
  4. Revised the Web error reporting method.
  5. Completed a general clean-up per Microsoft recommendation.

  1. Fixed the "not responding" error when the Internet was not available.
  2. Removed the very large sample "Shoreline Tracer Data" zip-file.

  1. Fixed a crash caused by an undefined 'Model-Class' folder after the folder was deleted.
  2. Fixed a WL to WSL transition error. WSL scanned ahead instead of left-to-right.
  3. Fixed an array indexing error in the "W | S | L" shoreline tracing method.
  4. Fixed the 'Model-Class' image sampling rectangle so it is at the plot center of a resized plot.
  5. Fixed the "View" menu "Set minimum square plot size" command.
  6. Revised and simplified the "Model-Class" selector form.
  7. Added to the "Models" menu a sample thumbnail image of the selected "Micro-Model Model-Class".
  8. Added the "Validate" command to the ""Shorelines" menu to check csv-files before converting to binary shoreline-files for packaging.
  9. Added the "Sample" check box to the "Draw profile" option of the "Classifier" form. If checked, and for a centered and vertically oriented shoreline and for review, the "Draw profile" will draw the scan-line create classified samples.
  10. Added a 'description' tool-tip to the "Model" menu "Micro-Model Model-Class" selection.
  11. Changed "Orient 0?" command to "Orient" in the "Classifier" form.
  12. Whenever you click a button to review images and to prevent a pile-up of opened file explorers, the program will display the images in the Windows File Exporer and will display the message:
    "Verify: Close all Window File Explorers".
    "After reviewing the images,
    - click 'OK' to close all File Explorers or
    - click 'Cancel' to leave the explorer(s) open".
  13. Completed a general clean-up and repair of numberous minor problems.

  1. Fixed a program crash due to an undefind folder in the "WndClassifier.Timer_UpdateControls".
  2. Fixed the "All images" count display in the "Select Micro-Model Model-Class" window.
  3. Fixed the "Documents" menu "Fit to view" command so it now fits the all shoreline of the csv-file into the plot window.
  4. Added to the "Options" menu of the "Classifier" the "Download tiles" command and the related "Zmin" to "Zmax" commands. When selected and on verification, the program will follow the session's shoreline points and download the shoreline related tiles that are missing within the plot window.
  5. Changed the "Select a Micro-Model Model-Class" form so you can vertically stretch the 'Model-Class' list. Reference: "Models" menu "Micro-Model Model-Class -> Open" command.
  6. Added to the "Help" menu the "Search" command. The program can search the help files for a key-word or key-phrase and create a list of selectable help files containing the key.
  7. Replaced the simple scan-line file selector with the "Select Scan-line Profile" form. The form will display a list of available scan-lines. As you scroll the list, the program will display the scan-line profile in the main plot window.

  1. Renumbered all "@E##.###" error message identifiers. To ignore repeating non-serious error messages, enter the message identifier in the [Lg] forms "Ignore" text box and click the "Add" button. For analysis, the errors are reported to the 'App Center' once per app session.
  2. Fixed the 'Trainer' error: "SaveModel failed: Could not find a part of the path . . ."
  3. Fixed the Trainer's 'Test classify training images' default to checked (recommended.)
  4. Fixed the Classifier's 'Save shoreline interval' default to 30-minutes instead of 0 (never.)
  5. Fixed the Classifier's shoreline tracing angle reversal problem.
  6. Added to the image classifier the options:

    1. "Scan center left and scqn center right" ... If checked, using the W | L model, and using the scan-line profile. the program will look ahead of the current position. If the image is classified as land, the program will scan left for water. If the image is water, the program will scan right for land. The new direction is between the adjacent water and land images. For the same parameters, shoreline tracing speed is 4 to 5 times faster than the original shoreline tracing simple left to right scan and this method is less sensitive to detours to off-shore rocks.

    2. "Scan left to right" ... If checked, scan left-to-right with the scan-line profile. This was the original method and is now an optional method.

      "Immediately classify" ... Diagnostics: If checked and the "Scan left to right" option is checked, the program will classify the image immediately after creating a scanned image. When used with the W | L model and for most cases, the shoreline tracing speed will be about twice as fast as the plain "left to right" scan.

  7. Added to the image classifier the "Edit" menu "Retrace section" command.
  8. Added to the image classifier the "Edit" menu the shoreline commands: Cut, Copy, Paste, and Delete.
